The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service requires that all foreign documents submitted as supporting evidence in connection with any application must be translated into the English language.
The Code
of Federal Regulations 8CFR § 103.2(b)(3) states specifically
that:
Any document containing foreign language submitted to the Service shall be accompanied by a full English language translation, which the translator has certified as complete and accurate, and by the translator's certification that he or she is competent to translate from the foreign language into English.
THEREFORE, if a document is not in English, it will need to be translated by someone (other than yourself) who is fluent in both languages. Each document that is translated must be certified using the "format" below. The translator may choose to either attach the "certificate of translation" to the actual translation itself or place the following information at the bottom of the translated document:
CERTIFICATE
OF TRANSLATION
I,
_____________________, certify that I am fluent in the
English and _____________ languages, and that the attached
is a true and complete translation to the best of my knowledge
and ability.
